Operational Workflow

The functioning of the Regexta application is structured as a linear operational workflow, composed of sequential phases that lead from document insertion to the generation and management of the regestum.

The process can be summarized as follows.

Access to the application

The user accesses the “Extract Regesta” page:

  • in public mode (without authentication), or
  • through federated authentication via D4Science (Keycloak), obtaining a Researcher profile.

Depending on the authentication status, the system enables or limits persistence and Collections management functionalities.

Selection of the document type

The user selects an item from the “Select Document Type” menu.

The selection is mandatory and constitutes a prerequisite for starting the extraction.

The chosen type determines the configuration of the linguistic model and the structure of the generated output.

Document insertion

The user provides the document content through one of the following methods:

  • manual insertion of the text in the dedicated area;
  • file upload through the upload function.

Until extraction is performed, the content remains modifiable.

Regestum extraction

Through the “Extract Regestum” command, the system:

  • analyzes the provided text;
  • activates the underlying linguistic model;
  • generates a structured output in the “Output” section;
  • sets the input area to read-only mode.

The document transitions from the “Editable” state to the “Extracted” state.

Consultation of the output

The user may view the generated regestum, composed of structured informational fields.

At this stage, the following operations are available:

  • Export of the result to the local device;
  • Copy Regestum to the clipboard;
  • Save within the platform (authenticated users only);
  • Reset of the process to start a new elaboration.

Saving and management in Collections (authenticated users only)

Authenticated users may:

  • save the generated regestum;
  • associate it with an existing or new Collection;
  • consult documents later in the “Collections” page;
  • navigate among multiple documents through a pagination system.

Saving enables data persistence within the platform.

Completion of the cycle

The operational cycle concludes when the user:

  • exports the result;
  • saves the document within the platform (if authenticated);
  • or performs a reset to start a new elaboration.

The entire process is designed to be repeatable, coherent, and structured, ensuring integrity between the analyzed text and the generated regestum.
