Audience and roles
HORTUS supports multiple user roles, each with different capabilities.
Visitor
- Can browse public content:
- projects
- events
- experts
- marketplace resources
- news
- Cannot create or interact with restricted features
Signed-in user
- Can:
- manage personal profile
- receive notifications
- use messaging
- save favourites
- access personal workspace
Contributor / Researcher
- Can:
- create research resources
- propose metadata formats
- create projects, events, and news (where permitted)
- submit items for moderation
- track lifecycle status
Maintainer / Project lead
- Can:
- manage project pages
- organise events
- manage members
- curate linked content
- oversee contributions
Moderator / Administrator
- Can:
- approve or reject submissions
- manage moderation workflows
- ensure quality and consistency
Important after registration
Creating an account does not automatically grant contributor permissions.
To activate advanced roles:
- Register or sign in
- Contact the service desk (service-desk@itserr.it)
- Request the appropriate role
- Explain your intended activities (e.g. publishing, project management)
If certain features are not visible:
- Verify role activation before assuming the feature is unavailable
