Account deletion
Account deletion permanently removes your account.
What happens when you delete your account
- your login credentials are removed
- your profile is deleted or anonymised
- access is permanently revoked
Important:
- some content may remain for integrity reasons
- ownership may be reassigned or anonymised
When to use deletion
- you no longer wish to use HORTUS
- you want your data removed
- permanent exit from the platform
Important considerations
Before deleting your account:
- verify if you have active contributions
- check ownership of projects or resources
- ensure data you need is exported
Deletion may be irreversible.
Data and ownership considerations
HORTUS is a collaborative platform.
This means:
- content may involve multiple users
- removing an account does not always remove shared content
Possible outcomes:
- content remains with anonymised authorship
- ownership transferred to other users
- restricted visibility applied
Role and access implications
Account actions affect roles:
- deactivation → roles are suspended
- deletion → roles are removed permanently
If you return after deactivation:
- roles may need reactivation
Best practices
- use deactivation for temporary absence
- use deletion only when necessary
- review your contributions before action
- contact support for clarification
Summary
Account management in HORTUS:
- supports both temporary and permanent actions
- preserves system integrity and collaboration
- requires careful consideration before deletion
Users should:
- understand consequences
- verify data and ownership
- choose the appropriate action
