Introduction

The Gnorm tool is the search engine developed within WP3 of the ITSERR project – Italian Strengthening of the ESFRI RI RESILIENCE. The platform is dedicated to the consultation and analysis of texts belonging to two major corpora of the juridical–religious tradition:

• Corpus Iuris Canonici, which collects the main normative texts of the Catholic Church;
• Babylonian Talmud, the reference Jewish corpus for the rabbinic tradition.

The objective of the module is to provide an advanced textual search system over complex sources, offering an intuitive interface and analytical support tools such as annotations, translations, and export functionalities.

Gnorm allows users to:

• Perform keyword-based searches within the corpora;
• Apply hierarchical filters to select specific texts, books, chapters, and sections;
• View search results and access detailed pages;
• Create generic notes or notes linked to specific portions of text;
• Export data and notes in CSV or JSON format;
• Consult texts through parallel navigation (e.g. Glossa Ordinaria in the Liber Extra) or dynamic translation (for the Babylonian Talmud).

The system is designed to:

• Provide a unified access point to complex normative and religious texts;
• Promote interoperability with other academic and digital resources of the RESILIENCE project;
• Support the activities of researchers, scholars, and reviewers in the consultation and annotation of texts;
• Maintain a modular structure that can be easily extended to include new corpora or functionalities.

The module is integrated within the ITSERR infrastructure, which provides:

• A centralized authentication system based on D4Science and Keycloak;
• A coherent navigation structure shared with the other project modules;
• A standardized export framework to ensure compatibility with external analysis or archiving tools.

Gnorm is primarily intended for:

• Researchers in the theological, historical, and legal fields;
• WP Leads and reviewers, who validate and supervise the inserted resources;
• Technical administrators, who manage system configuration and data quality.
